Description

A method of agriculture introduced in the middle ages (ca. 1100 AD):
Originally this form of agriculture was done only on one's own ground. Later in the entire village,
The entire land was subdivided into three parts ("Zelgen"): Summer field, winter field and fallow. Farmers had fields in each part. The use of each part changed yearly. The fallow was used to recover the soil and as a pasture.
