A joint procession to church finalises the centuries-old tradition to determine the pastures in the high mountains of the Ötztal for sheep from South Tyrol
A mighty beech tree , called “Marca Zaveri”, marked in the Valgrande the meeting place where the Alpine herdsmen handed over their products to the oncoming colleagues from the valley. Afterwards they went back to the high mountain pastures. In the shadow of the “Marca Zaveri” they also exchanged news and information. The diverse customs belong to the agricultural live in the Alpine region. Today, many of these historical roots are going to be lost.
